Today was another busy day. I’m really looking forward to a day with nothing to do, but I’m so enjoying our time with my family, so I’m not going to complain too much.
We started off the day at the vet. Just our yearly check ups and leptospirosis vaccines. Pups are doing great, aside from Simon losing 0.2lbs and Luka finding it. That might have something to do with the fact that Luka regularly finishes Simon’s meals. I guess we’ll have to keep a better eye on them.
When we got home, I settled into the kitchen and stayed there for pretty much the entire afternoon. First up, I made vegan cupcakes. We looked into ordering some for the shower tomorrow, but they were ridiculously expensive. Like $33/dozen expensive. I heard that price and said no way, I can make them cheaper, and they’ll probably taste better. And I was right!! This is the recipe I used, and I highly recommend it:
Once the cupcakes were baked and decorated, I moved on to dinner for this evening. My cousin Meg and her boyfriend Matt made the trip down from Toronto for the shower, so I cooked them our traditional English dinner. Roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, sweet gravy and all the fixings. I figured they don’t get a homemade traditional English dinner very often, and I think everyone enjoyed it. There was nothing left!! And of course we finished up with a homemade apple pie compliments of Poppa!
We had a wonderful visit with Meg and Matt this evening. It’s been a year since we’ve got to hang out, and we always have such a good time together. We really should make the trek to Toronto for a visit sometime!
